* Kids sit in line before they go into class -

* Parents drop off kids at the curb OR walk them to the gate and then leave -

* No left turn exiting parking lot from 7:45 - 8:15 a.m.

Upper parking lot road is ONE-WAY in the morning!

* Before 8:05 a.m. the Upper Parking lot road is ENTER ONLY -

* At 8:05 a.m. the Upper Parking lot road is EXIT ONLY-

For the safety of our children, please honor all previously established guidelines regarding curb drop-off and use of cross walk during drop-off and pick-up.

Join the Community of Orange Foundation as they present:

Eats in the Streets!

This is a majorly delicious way to help out a great cause in the community. The Village at Orange (The Orange Mall) will host over 20 Gourmet Food Trucks from 5-9pm on Friday night to help the Foundation raise money to fund some of their great community events and outreaches!

Each truck will donate a portion of their proceeds at the end of the night, and that money will benefit KidsPlay, Studio Orange, the CFO Scholarship Program and of course the Foundation Games! Each program the Foundation puts on is designed to help children and families in the Orange area and continue to be a huge success is getting kids educated and involved!

So bring your BEACH CHAIRS and some Ca$h, next Friday and join the Orange Community Foundation for Eats in the Streets 2011! There is NO parking or admission fees, you only pay for the food you choose to purchase...

Some of the featured trucks are: Dos Chinos, White Rabbit, BaconMANia, Spudrunners, Dogzilla, Chomp Chomp Nation and The Lime Truck. To learn more about the Community Foundation of Orange, visit their website, click here.

The picnic starts at 5:30pm. Bring your own dinner or purchase Carl's Jr at the event! The movie will start at sundown, which is estimated to be around 7:10pm.... don't forget your chairs and blanket to enjoy the movie.

*We are asking for a donation of boxed/bagged individually wrapped snacks or candy to support the community outreach program sponsoring the event.

All are invited to a night of fun-filled adventures in science. Teachers will be hosting kits in their rooms encouraging you and your family to complete a hands-on science experiment together. Don't miss the robot and reptile booth hosted by our own Panthers!

Spaghetti Dinner from 5-6pm

Come early to join us from 5-6pm for Spaghetti Dinner prepared by the class of 2011. For just $5 per plate you will get delicious spaghetti, salad and breadstick dinner.

The yearbook's first deadline is fast approaching (Feb 1, 2010) The yearbook committee has to submit half of the yearbook, most of these pages are of classroom activity pages.... this being said WE NEED PICTURES!!

If you have taken any pictures (first day of school, classroom parties, art masters, field trips, recess, lunch, anytime you have been at school) PLEASE download them onto a CD and place them in the yearbook file in the office!! The yearbook can only be as successful as the pictures that are turned in! If you have any questions, please let us know!

There will be NO SCHOOL in observance of Martin Luther King on Monday January 18th.

Martin Luther King, Jr. fought for equal civil rights for African Americans. Each year, on the 3rd Monday of January, we celebrate his life and his dream. The day was made a national holiday in 1986.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a minister who participated in many peaceful demonstrations in regard to unfair treatment of African Americans. He is famous for his meaningful speech "I Have a Dream". He won the Nobel Peace prize in 1964. Martin Luther King was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Here are some helpful tips provided by OUSD:

The Cold? The Flu? or H1N1? (click here for PDF)

Prevention is very important!

H1N1 vaccinations are provided free by the government to health care providers. The goal is to inoculate half of the population. Some agencies may charge a fee for giving the shot/nasal spray. However, vaccinations are available for free at many locations.

Priority for vaccinations….

Health care workers
Children ages 6 mo. to 24 years
Pregnant women
People ages 25-64 with chronic health conditions (like asthma, diabetes or cardiovascular disease) or who have a compromised immune system
Adults age 65+ (risk to get H1N1 is less compared to the other groups)

* Nasal spray is a weakened live virus and is given only to people ages 2-49. (It is NOT given to women who are pregnant or to people who have a compromised immune system.)

* H1N1 should be given in addition to the seasonal flu vaccine. Peak flu season for regular flu is January so get your flu shots now. Flu shots take 7-10 days for protection to occur.

* Don’t receive any flu vaccine if allergic to eggs!

*Treatment for H1N1 is the same as regular flu. Tamiflu should not be used unless there are actual signs of flu.

* Health Department is looking for clusters and excessive absences (10% higher than usual for that time of year.) H1N1 is determined by a buccal swab and it takes a week to get the results. People with uncomplicated flu symptoms are not being tested. Testing is mostly for those hospitalized with flu symptoms and people who live with a person who would need to know if he/she was exposed.

Go to http://www.orangeusd.org/H1N1/ to review hygiene practices that help to prevent getting the flu and also decrease the chance of spreading germs to others.

The purpose of the Red Ribbon Campaign is to present a visible commitment to a safe, healthy and drug-free lifestyle. The campaign is designed to accomplish the following:

to create awareness concerning the problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs
to support the decision to live a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

Panorama has arranged a full week of activity to bring awareness to our students...

*All Week - Bring in your Pennies for Prevention*

Monday 10/19: Wear School Colors ~ Students will recieve their RED wristbands and enjoy a school-wide assembly.

Tuesday 10/20: Wear Yellow ~ 'Drug Free, the Way to Be' is the theme of the day. Class posters will be judged.

Wednesday 10/21: Wear Crazy Socks ~ Encourage kids to 'Sock it to drugs'.

Thursday 10/22: Wear Blue ~ because drugs give you the blues. Discuss with students the emotional and physical effects often associated with substance use.

Friday 10/23: Wear Red (and athletic shoes)
It's our Panther Challenge! It is also the LAST DAY to bring in your Pennies for Prevention. [Minimum day]

Red Ribbon Week brings millions of people together to raise awareness regarding the need for alcohol, tobacco, drug and violence prevention, early intervention and treatment services.

That is what clipping Box Tops and bringing them into our school is all about. Friday Oct 16th is our first deadline to turn in your Box Tops.

August 20th~ New Student/Kindergarten Orientation 1:00-2:00pm ~ If you are new to Panorama or have an incoming kindergartener please plan on attending. In addition to Mrs. Moore's presentation the PTA will be there to welcome you to Panorama and let you know about all of the great events and activities we have planned.

August 20th ~ PTA Meeting 2:00-3:00pm ~ Please join us for our first PTA meeting of the 2008-2009 school year. We will have a few items of business and hopefully we can fill our remaining open positions.

August 26th ~ Back to School Lunch for our Panorama Staff 11:30am ~ The PTA will be serving lunch to our awesome staff. If you can help with this event please send us an email at panoramapta@gmail.com and put "Back to School Lunch" in the subject line.

August 27th ~ Class Postings 5:00pm ~ Come and find out who your child's teacher will be for the 2008-2009 school year. The PTA will have Back to School packets for you to fill out and our 5th grade class will also be selling Spirit Wear.

August 28th ~ First Day of School

August 29th ~ Upper Grades (4,5&6) Sally Foster Kickoff Assembly 8:30am ~ To help offset the cost of our upper grade activities (Outdoor Ed, Catalina, etc.) our upper grade classes will be selling Sally Foster Gift Wrap and Entertainment Books. Although this is NOT A PTA FUNDRAISER the upper grade students would really appreciate your support. The sale will end on September 12th.

September 9th ~ Restaurant Night @ Bagel Me 5:00pm to Close ~ Come and eat dinner with us at Bagel Me located on Chapman Ave. Panorama will receive 20% of the sales produced by our school. Look for a flyer to be sent home the first part of September and don't forget to bring it with you so Panorama will receive it's 20%.

September 16th~ Back To School Night! Visit your child's classroom and meet their teacher!

September 19th~ Spiritwear orders due! Show your Panther Pride and wear spiritwear on Fridays! Order forms should have come home, extra forms available in the office, or call Raeann Blue 714-771-2553 with questions.

September 23rd ~ Art Masters 8:00am ~ We are so excited to have this wonderful program back again this year at Panorama.

September 24th ~ Lifetouch School Picture Day ~ Be sure to bring your smiles:)

September 26th ~ Family Fun Night Carnival 3:00-6:30pm ~ You won't want to miss out on our first Family Fun Night of the year....We will have Carnival Games, Food and Lots of Fun!

September 30th ~ Executive PTA Meeting 12:00pm ~ If you are on the executive board or are chairing a position please join us at this meeting. More information to follow on the location.

We have created this blog to help keep our families informed of all the great and exciting events that will be happening at Panorama this year. To the right you will find a link to our 2008-2009 school calendar and also an email address for all of your questions or comments. We will update this blog at least monthly with all of the upcoming events for that month.

We hope everyone is enjoying your summer vacation and making awesome memories with your children! We are looking forward to a new school year and have many exciting events and opportunities planned for your children and families.
